The Gaza Strip is 40km (25 miles) long and about 6–12 km (4–7.5 miles) wide. It is smaller than the British Isle of Wight, but with a population of 1.7 million, it is 12x more densely populated.

The Mediteranean Sea lies to the North-West; Egypt borders the Strip to the South-West; and Israel borders to the North and East.
